One of our favorite and most impressive beer associations is CAMRA (the Campaign for Real Ale), founded in England and now expanded into Europe. CAMRA is ubiquitous in British pub culture and has been a driving force for consumers rights since their inception in 1971. Camra boasts over 83,000 members and whose goals include preserving and protecting the traditional fermenting process of cask conditioned ales and supporting those breweries who produce their ales using this traditional process.
In addition CAMRA is very active in the preservation of local pubs across England and Europe as the essential public house for communities. CAMRA is also involved with the Great British Beer Festival, held every year in August.
CAMRA also supports “Community Pubs Week” in an effort to draw attention and business to local pubs:
